These air fryer salmon patties are a quick, healthy, and delicious meal option that anyone can whip up in their kitchen. Perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, these patties can be enjoyed on their own, as part of a salad, or even on a bun like a burger. Packed with protein and omega-3 fatty acids, they’re a nutritious choice that doesn’t skimp on flavor. My attempt at making these was not only a delightful experience but also surprisingly easy, and I can’t wait to share the details!

Ingredients

  • Here’s what you’ll need to make your own air fryer salmon patties:
  • 1 pound canned or fresh cooked salmon drained (or use canned tuna as a substitute)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley or 1 tablespoon dried
  • 1 egg beaten (for a vegan version, try using flax egg: 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed + 3 tablespoons water)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard you can also use regular mustard if that’s what you have
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray

Method

  1. Prepare the Salmon: If using fresh salmon, make sure to cook and flake it beforehand. Canned salmon makes it super easy, just drain and place in a mixing bowl.
  2. Mix Ingredients: Add breadcrumbs, onion, parsley, beaten egg, mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the bowl with the salmon. Mix everything well until it’s combined nicely.
  3. Form the Patties: Scoop about a quarter cup of the mixture and shape it into a patty. You should be able to get around 8 patties from this mixture.
  4. Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to preheat at 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
  5. Prepare for Cooking: Lightly spray or brush the air fryer basket with cooking spray to avoid sticking.
  6. Cook the Patties: Place the salmon patties in a single layer in the air fryer basket (you may need to cook in batches). Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through until they are golden brown and crispy.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Once done, remove them from the air fryer and serve hot. Enjoy with your favourite dipping sauce!

Notes

Feel free to customize these patties! You can add additional spices like paprika or old bay seasoning for a flavor boost. Ensure the patties are not too wet or dry; adjusting the breadcrumbs can help achieve the right consistency.
