Ingredients

  • Here’s what you’ll need for the air fryer burgers and some handy substitutions:
  • 1 lb ground beef you could use turkey or a meat substitute
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce optional but recommended
  • Burger buns whole wheat, gluten-free, or your choice
  • Cheese slices optional
  • Your favorite burger toppings such as lettuce tomato, onion, and condiments

Method

  1. Follow these simple steps to make the perfect air fryer burgers:
  2. Prep the Mixture: Start by combining ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce in a mixing bowl. Use your hands to blend until just combined; avoid overmixing as that can make the burgers tough.
  3. Form the Patties: Divide the mixture into four equal parts and gently shape them into burger patties. Make a small indent in the center of each patty with your thumb, this helps them to cook evenly and prevents puffing.
  4. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 360°F (182°C) for about 5 minutes. This ensures that the burgers cook evenly from the start.
  5. Cook the Burgers: Place the patties in the air fryer basket in a single layer (you might need to cook them in batches). Cook them for 10-12 minutes at 360°F, flipping halfway through. If you like cheese, add a slice on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
  6. Prepare the Buns and Toppings: While the burgers are cooking, toast the buns in the air fryer for about 2 minutes if you'd like a little crunch. Prep your favorite toppings on a plate.
  7. Assemble the Burger: Once the burgers are cooked, place them on the prepared buns and add your chosen toppings. Serve immediately.

Notes

Ground turkey or chicken can replace ground beef for a lighter option.
For extra flavour, consider adding some spices like paprika or cumin.
Use lean beef for a healthier option, but remember, a little fat equals flavour!
